Ocala woman jailed after fight with another woman over her boozing

Heather Elaine Mose-Yates

An Ocala woman was arrested after she admitted to slapping another woman during an argument over the victim drinking alcohol.

Heather Elaine Mose-Yates, 45, was charged with simple battery after the recent incident. The relationship between Mose-Yates and the victim was not disclosed in the Marion County Sheriff’s Office report.

Mose-Yates told a sheriff’s deputy that during the argument, the victim left Mose-Yates’ room and went to her room. Mose-Yates said she followed the victim into her room to continue the argument, according to the report.

Mose-Yates said the victim told her to stop following her. She said she slapped the victim in the face and the victim slapped her back. Mose-Yates said she pushed the victim onto the bed and left the room. The deputy didn’t observe any marks on the victim, the report said.

The victim said she got into an argument with Mose-Yates over her drinking. She said she left Mose-Yates’ room because she didn’t want to argue and walked into her room. The victim said she told Mose-Yates to leave the room and Mose-Yates slapped her in the face, pushed her on the bed and sat on her. The victim denied hitting Mose-Yates, according to the report.

Although the testimonies contradicted each other, the deputy determined Mose-Yates was the primary aggressor because she followed the victim into the bedroom to continue the argument. Mose-Yates also admitted to slapping the victim, the report said.

Mose-Yates was taken to the Marion County Jail, where she was released on $500 bond. No court information was available.
