Ocala woman caught on video hitting man in back of the head

Dianna Lynn Haybarger

A 41-year-old Ocala woman was arrested after she was recorded on video hitting a man from behind as he was walking away from her.

The victim’s mother told a Marion County sheriff’s deputy that Dianna Lynn Haybarger and her son were arguing in the front yard of the victim’s residence on Thursday when Haybarger struck him. She said she recorded the incident on her cell phone because Haybarger is always lying about the victim, trying to get him in trouble, according to the sheriff’s office report.

The deputy reviewed the video, which showed Haybarger and the victim arguing in front of the residence. The video shows the victim walking away from the defendant and towards the residence when she ran up behind him, striking him in the head and shoulder area with her right hand, the report said.

The victim called 911 after the altercation and left the residence on foot in an unknown direction. The victim’s mother was able to contact him by text message, but he refused to return to the incident location or cooperate with the investigation, according to the report.

Contacted at a neighbor’s house, Haybarger said she went to the incident location to check on her pets when she got into an argument with the victim. She said she struck him because he mentally abuses her and he pushed her too far this time, the report said.

Sheriff’s office records show deputies responded to domestic disturbances at the residence five previous times in April. Due to the history at the residence and video footage, Haybarger was charged with simple battery and taken to the Marion County Jail, where she was released Friday on her own recognizance. Hayberger will appear in Marion County Court on June 18.
