Drugs found in vehicle after Ocala man stopped for speeding

Norbrince Lorient

An Ocala man was arrested Tuesday afternoon after Marion County sheriff’s deputies reported finding a load of drugs in his vehicle during a traffic stop.

Lorient Norbrince, 40, of 5114 SE 36th Ave., was charged with possession of a controlled substance without a prescription, possession of cocaine, possession of methamphetamine, possession of heroin, possession of less than 20 grams of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, and driving with a suspended license (third or subsequent offense).

A deputy paced Norbrince’s silver Toyota traveling westbound at 50 mph in a 30-mph zone on SE 73rd Street. During the ensuing traffic stop, Norbrince provided his identification card and said his driver’s license was suspended for DUI, according to the sheriff’s office report.

Norbrince was detained because he kept moving around after being told not to. A deputy saw Norbrince lift his cupholder and place something underneath it. The deputy raised the cupholder and found a clear plastic bag containing a green leafy substance and a clear plastic bag containing a white crystal substance, the report said.

Also found was a black sock, which contained a red straw and a baggie containing a red rock substance, a plastic bag containing a white rock substance, and a brown plastic tube that contained a white rock substance, according to the report.

The green leafy substance tested positive for THC, the white crystal substance tested positive for methamphetamine, the red rock substance tested positive for heroin, the white rock substance tested positive for PCP, and the white rock substance tested positive for cocaine, the report said.

When asked about the drugs in the vehicle, Norbrince said he was a “user” and that only the marijuana was his. He said he allows other people to use his vehicle. A records search showed Norbrince with three prior convictions for driving with a suspended license and one for DUI, according to the report.

Norbrince was taken to the Marion County Jail, where he was released Wednesday on $20,000 bond. No court information was available.
