Dunnellon man jailed after fight with man and woman

Andrew Stephen Armbrust

A Dunnellon man was arrested last week after a nasty family spat with a man and woman.

Andrew Stephen Armbrust, 39, was charged Thursday with aggravated battery on a person 65 years of age or older. The relationship between Armbrust and the victims was redacted from the Marion County Sheriff’s Office report.

The victims told a sheriff’s deputy that Armbrust was highly intoxicated and had used marijuana. They said he was on the porch yelling at someone on his cell phone before coming inside and becoming aggressive and trying to get them to fight him, according to the report.

The victims said Armbrust came close to, almost touching noses with, the one of the victims. They said he was yelling loudly and in an aggressive manner for the victim to hit him. The victims said Armbrust started to push the female victim in the chest until she fell into the living room chair, the report said.

The male victim said he became upset at Armbrust’s behavior and stood up. He said Armbrust came towards him and pushed him in the chest, knocking his glasses off his face, according to the report.

The female victim said she contacted law enforcement because she was in fear of Armbrust. She said while she was on the phone, Armbrust continued to follow her and tried to take the cell phone out of her hands, the report said.

The victims said they left the incident location and waited for law enforcement at the community clubhouse. They said Armbrust has been acting aggressively and behaving in this manner for the past week. The victims said Armbrust has a drinking problem, is possibly addicted to the medications from back surgery, and often uses marijuana, according to the report.

The deputy did not observe any physical markings on either victim. One of the victims provided an audio recording of Armbrust sounding very hostile and belligerent while trying to get the victims to fight him, the report said.

Armbrust was arrested and taken to the Marion County Jail, where he was released Saturday on $2,000 bond. He will appear in Marion County Court on Sept. 8.
