Ocklawaha man nabbed on DUI charge after traffic stop on E. Hwy. 40

Colby Unangst

An Ocklawaha man found himself behind bars late Wednesday night after being stopped for a traffic violation on E. Hwy. 40 by a Marion County sheriff’s deputy.

The deputy made contact with 25-year-old Colby Unangst and observed signs of impairment. Unangst struggled through a series of field sobriety exercises and the deputy determined he was driving under the influence, a sheriff’s office report states.

Unangst agreed to provide a breath sample that showed his blood-alcohol content was nearly twice the legal limit of .08. He was placed under arrest and transported to the Marion County Jail, where he was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. He was released late Thursday night on $1,500 bond and is due in court Jan. 6 at 8 a.m., jail records show.
