The family and friends of an Ocala woman are mourning her tragic death and asking the public to help find the driver of the vehicle that hit her while she was skateboarding.
Kimberly DeLeon, who would have turned 28 years old this month, was killed in a hit and run accident around 9 p.m. on Friday, July 30.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, DeLeon was skateboarding when she was struck in the 6000 block of NE 25th Avenue. At the scene, several pieces of the vehicle involved in the hit and run were found. Those pieces were used by FHP to identify the vehicle as most likely being a 2011 to 2013 Hyundai Elantra.

The vehicle will have an extremely damaged front light, bumper, and window.
A memorial cross has been placed at the site of the accident, 6679 NE 25th Avenue, for anyone wishing to pay respects.

“Please be mindful of the traffic and respectful of the family’s memorial,” reads a post from Shannon Cowart, DeLeon’s sister-in-law.
Friends of DeLeon have established a #JusticeForKim hashtag as a call to action for those with information that may help identify the driver of the Hyundai Elantra.
Multiple local business owners have agreed to match funds for a $10,000 reward for any information leading to the arrest of the driver.
If you have any information that can help identify the driver, please call the Ocala Florida Highway Patrol office at 352-512-6630.
