Ocala Fire Rescue responded to a seven-vehicle crash on I-75 in which three semi-trucks were jackknifed and another was rolled over.
Firefighters responded to the scene near northbound exit 352 on I-75 at around 1:30 a.m. on Tuesday, August 3. Ocala Fire Rescue’s Engines 1, 4, 6, Rescue 4, Tower 1, and Battalion Chief 11 all responded.
Crews arrived to find a total of four semi-trucks and three private vehicles had all been involved in a series of collisions. Three of the four semi-trucks were jackknifed, while the fourth was rolled over, according to a social media post from Ocala Fire Rescue.
Despite multiple vehicles being involved, only on person had minor injuries, according to the post.
Firefighters say that the rain created a dangerous scenario in which drivers had a “split second to brake” on account of all the lanes being completely blocked by a “jackknifed, rolled over semi-truck.”
Florida Highway Patrol rerouted traffic off exit 352 and back onto I-75 northbound to avoid complications as the road blockage was cleared.
