61-year-old man arrested after allegedly pointing gun at woman’s face during argument

An Ocala man was arrested after a victim claims he pointed a gun at her face during an argument.

On August 19, a Marion County Sheriff’s deputy responded to a victim who claims that she had been arguing with 61-year-old Monty Montgomery off and on for the past few days.

The victim says that she and Montgomery were arguing about the use of a vehicle they had given to Montgomery’s daughter. The victim claims Montgomery has been drinking a lot and became upset.

The victim claims Montgomery retrieved a small gun, pointed it in the victim’s face, and made a motion to rack the slide. The victim says she heard a noise emanate from the clip when Montgomery made the motion, according to the report.

Montgomery claims he and the victim have been arguing a lot lately and he told her to leave. He would not discuss the involvement of a gun in the argument, the report indicates.

The deputy located a silver color handgun on the floor with the magazine removed, the report states.

The victim says it is not the first time an incident like this has happened and says she has been threatened by Montgomery with a weapon before.

Montgomery was arrested and transported to the Marion County Jail with a bond set at $1,000. He is charged with aggravated assault and a court date is set for September 21 at 9 a.m., jail records show.
