Ocklawaha woman dead after vehicle drifts into oncoming lane and strikes side of boat

An Ocklawaha woman is dead after her vehicle struck a boat that was being hauled in the oncoming lane.

The Florida Highway Patrol reported a fatal crash that occurred on Sunday, October 10 at around 5:00 p.m.

According to the FHP report, a 68-year-old Ocklawaha woman was driving northbound on County Road 464C near SE 99th Place in Marion County. For an unknown reason, her vehicle drifted into the oncoming southbound lane.

Her vehicle struck the left side of a boat that was being hauled by a 63-year-old Ocala man. After the collision, her vehicle exited the west side of the roadway before striking a fence and overturning.

When FHP arrived on the scene, the 68-year-old woman was pronounced deceased.

The 63-year-old man and his 82-year old passenger, also a resident of Ocala, were uninjured in the crash.

The names of those involved in the crash were not provided, per FHP policy.
