MCSO Citizens Academy registration now open

The Marion County Sheriff’s Office is offering a free educational course that highlights the daily operations of its different units.

Registration is now open for MCSO’s Citizens Academy and Partnership program. The free 13-week educational course meets at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church (7525 S Highway 41 in Dunnellon) every Monday from 1:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. beginning on Monday, February 7, 2021.

During this program, MCSO staff will spotlight each unit within the sheriff’s office, giving attendees a deeper understanding of what the agency does for the community.

Each week’s course will focus on a different aspect of the agency, personnel, equipment, policies, procedures, and overall function. Attendees will have an opportunity to view specialty equipment and hear from experts in such fields as law enforcement, investigations, detention, and administration.

Applications and release forms are available on the Marion County Sheriff’s Office website.
