Ocala resident voices concerns on increasing homeless population in county

To the Editor:

My family and I recently moved here from California. We love Ocala. We moved to Florida to escape the horror show that California has become. High taxes, high cost of living, one party rule, soaring crime, and widespread homelessness.

The state of California has allowed the homeless problem to go unchecked for many years. From the large cities to the small towns, homeless people are everywhere. If you watch the news, you know what I’m talking about. It’s out of control. It’s outrageous.

Lately, I’ve been seeing more and more homeless people around Marion County. I’m worried that if the city and county officials don’t crack down on vagrancy, the homeless population in Ocala and Marion County will continue to grow. This is how it started in my home state. I would hate to see it get out of control here.

Ocala is a beautiful place. My family and I love it here. Please don’t let it become what we left.
