Naked man located and arrested in Alachua County after shooting at MCSO deputies

A 54-year-old naked man who had fired multiple gunshots at Marion County Sheriff’s Office deputies was located and arrested in Alachua County on Friday morning.

On Thursday at around 1 p.m., the MCSO deputies responded to the 10000 block of NW 215th Lane Road in Micanopy in response to reports of a domestic disturbance. A female victim told deputies that Daniel Garrish Robbins had shaken her violently on multiple occasions over the past week.

During one incident on Wednesday morning, the victim claimed that Robbins shook her while she was sleeping. When she woke up, he allegedly became argumentative and began throwing household items at her.

The victim recalled being struck in several places on her body. When she attempted to walk out of the room, she stated that Robbins threw two jugs full of water at her which struck her in the arm and back.

The deputies attempted to make contact with Robbins. According to an MCSO media release, Robbins was standing naked outside of his residence near a vehicle. As the deputies approached him, he retreated into his home.

Robbins pointed a handgun out of a window and began to shoot at the deputies. The deputies returned fire, retreated, and were unharmed.

Robbins fled the area and a search ensued. While law enforcement officers from multiple agencies were searching the area for Robbins, MCSO detectives obtained a warrant for his arrest.

At around 12:30 a.m. on Friday, fresh footprints were discovered in the search area. An Alachua County Sheriff’s Office deputy and a K-9 partner tracked those footprints to the 18200 block of SE 21st Street in Micanopy. Robbins, who was still naked, was located and arrested, and he is currently being held at Alachua County Jail.

Robbins will be transported to Marion County Jail where he will be held without bond on three counts of aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer along with one count of domestic battery.
