A 59-year-old woman from Ocala was killed in a two-vehicle crash that occurred in northwest Ocala on Thursday afternoon.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol incident report, the accident occurred shortly before 1 p.m. at the intersection of U.S. 27 and NW 90th Avenue.

The woman was traveling northbound in a blue Mazda SUV. The FHP report indicated that she failed to yield the right-of-way, and her vehicle traveled into the path of a white Cadillac SUV that was being driven by a 29-year-old woman from Colorado Springs, Colo.

The front of the Cadillac collided with the driver’s side of the Mazda. Marion County Fire Rescue arrived on scene and the Ocala woman was transported to HCA Florida Ocala Hospital, where she was later pronounced dead.

The driver of the Cadillac sustained serious injuries in the crash. The names of both drivers were not released, per FHP policy.
