Two drivers were hospitalized after their vehicles collided on SW Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue in Ocala on Wednesday morning.

According to Ocala Fire Rescue, its Engine 1 and Rescue 1 units were returning to the station at approximately 9:30 a.m. when the crew members encountered what appeared to be a single-vehicle accident on the 400 block of SW Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue.

A Chevrolet Tahoe was resting over a street sign and the engine was still running. When the OFR units looked closer at the scene of the accident, they also located a Ford Fusion with heavy front-end damage across the street, and the driver was outside the vehicle.

After accessing the scene of the crash, OFR requested additional assistance from the following units: Engine 4, Battalion Chief 11, and two medic units.

Both drivers were transported to a local hospital – the driver of the Tahoe was trauma alerted. There were no other injuries reported.

The Ocala Police Department and Marion County Fire Rescue also responded.
