Lucious Connell “L. C.” Stevenson, Sr., 92 years old, was a lifetime resident of Ocala, Florida. He expired on February 16, 2023 at Hospice of Marion County’s-Ted and Diane Brandley House in Summerfield, FL.

L. C. was born on September 04, 1930 in Kendrick, Florida to the Late Charlie “Tobie” and Elise Haynes Stevenson. Upon the death of his mother, he was raised by stepmother, Onie Fleming Stevenson.

Inducted on March 23, 1951, Lucious received an “Honorable Discharge from the Army of the United States of America” on November 14, 1956.

During the early 1960’s, L. C. was a founding member of the Hunting and Fishing Club of Marion County, a group of black activists who served as a surveillance team to protect civil rights leaders from the Ku Klux Klan. He was an entrepreneur, agricultural farmer, cattleman, and real estate investor. He worked at Suwannee Swifty, a butchering enterprise for 30 years without any absenteeism. He was an avid deer hunter and member of the Hunting & Fishing Club of Florida & Georgia and member of National Rifle Association.

L. C. was a philanthropist. Community service includes: Chairman of the Board of Directors and member of the Boys & Girls Club of Marion County; President of the Marion County Branch of the NAACP for 2 years and a lifetime member; Deacon of St. Lewis Missionary Baptist Church.

He is survived by three children, one step-daughter, and a host of other relatives and friends.

A Visitation for L.C. will be held Saturday, March 4, 2023 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Draw All Men Ministries, 1919 SW 27th Avenue, Ocala, Florida 34471. Funeral service will follow from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM. L.C. will be laid to rest at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens, 5740 South Pine Avenue, Ocala, Florida 34480.
