Ocala man arrested after allegedly grabbing woman’s throat, threatening her with bicycle lock

A 29-year-old Ocala man was arrested by the Marion County Sheriff’s Office after a woman claimed that he grabbed her throat and threatened to hit her with a bicycle lock.

On August 24, 2022, an MCSO deputy responded to a local residence in reference to a domestic disturbance. Upon arrival, the deputy made contact with the female victim who advised that the altercation had involved Dorian Alexander Leach, according to the MCSO report.

Prior to the incident, the victim stated that she had called her son while at work, and her son had informed her that Leach had turned the breaker off and was “messing with him.” According to the victim, her son stated that Leach kept “busting in and out of his bedroom door” while “cursing at him.”

When the victim returned home from work, she advised that “everything was fine” with Leach until she asked him about the incident with her son and the breaker. The victim advised that Leach snapped at her and told her, “(expletive) you and (expletive) your son,” according to the MCSO report.

The victim stated that Leach kept walking around the residence while uttering profanities, and she headed into her bedroom. According to the victim, she was sitting on her bed when Leach screamed in her face and threatened to kill her. Moments later, Leach allegedly placed both of his hands around her neck, which restricted her ability to breath.

In the MCSO report, the deputy noted that the victim had several red marks on her neck that appeared to be fresh and were consistent with her statement.

The victim told the deputy that Leach proceeded to walk away from her, and he started “destroying her house” and placing all the food from the refrigerator into a garbage can. She then claimed that Leach held a bicycle lock near her face and threatened to strike her with it, according to the MCSO report.

The victim advised that she was able to run out the back door, and she locked herself inside her car before dialing 911.

On August 27, 2022, the deputy made contact with Leach over the phone. The deputy noted in the MCSO report that Leach advised he was in Orlando. He stated that a verbal argument had occurred with the victim, though he claimed that he never touched her.

Leach told the deputy that he had been scratched during the altercation. The deputy requested to meet Leach in-person so his injuries could be documented. According to the MCSO report, Leach did not meet with the deputy and a warrant was issued for his arrest on September 2, 2022.

On Thursday, March 2, 2023, the sheriff’s office was informed that Leach was in the area of Ocala Place Apartments located in the 2100 block of NW 1st Avenue in Ocala. An MCSO corporal and a deputy trainee responded to the apartment complex and observed Leach’s vehicle pulling into the area, according to the MCSO report.

After the vehicle came to a stop, Leach exited it and began walking towards an apartment. Leach refused several orders to stop, and the corporal and deputy trainee made contact with him in front of the apartment.

The MCSO report stated that Leach was arrested and escorted to the patrol car. Leach kept pulling away during a pat-down search, and he “tensed his body up” while refusing to get inside the back of the patrol car. He began yelling and screaming, and the corporal and deputy trainee were eventually able to place him inside the vehicle.

Leach was transported to Marion County Jail, and he was later released on $5,000 bond. He is facing felony charges for committing domestic battery by strangulation and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon without intent to kill, along with a misdemeanor charge for resisting an officer without violence.

A court date has been scheduled at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, April 4, according to jail records.
