Deacon Bernard Manning
July 12, 1937 – June 30, 2023 (age 85)
Wherever it comes my time to cross the golden bar, may He guide me,
and no one can turn me back. My Shepherd is beside me, and nothing can I lack.
His wisdom ever waking, His sight is never dim.
He knows the way He’s taking, and I will walk with Him.
Deacon Bernard Manning was born July 12, 1937, to the late Horace Manning & Inez Howell. He attended Fessenden High School and retired from CXS Railroad.
Deacon Bernard Manning attended Antioch Baptist Church in Sparr, Florida at an early age and then united with Debose Chapel United Methodist Church in Reddick, Florida where he served as Superintendent of Sunday School for twenty plus years, a choir member and lawn maintenance until the Lord called him home on June 30, 2023.
In his leisure time he loved fishing, “The Gators”, eating, playing baseball back in the day and spending time with family and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sons: Emory Bernard Manning and Phillip Brelle Manning; two sisters: Minnie Bess and Ethel Mae Darling; two brothers: James Manning and Sylvester Nelson, Sr.; one brother in law: Jesse Brown (Carolyn)
Deacon Manning leaves a legacy of loving memories to be cherished by: His loving and devoted wife of 64 years and 9 months, Margaret Brown Manning; Children: Evangeline Martin (Harold), Keven Manning, Sharbet Manning, Corey Manning (Marian) and Eloise Gordon (Lindell); Siblings: Rozzie Lamar and Julius Manning (Ann); grandchildren: Jovanda Browning (Troy), Jowann Martin (Cierra), Evonte Manning, Iretavious Manning (Tiffany), Emory Quintell Manning, Labrittany Manning, Kenya Hagins (Sim), Lindell Gordon (Kanita), Ketha McIntosh (Samuel), Camden and Nadia-Rose Manning; 15 great grands and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends
Public Visitation will be held on Friday July 7,2023 at 1:00 until 6:00PM at Summers Funeral Home 2238 NW 10th Street, Ocala 34475.
Celebration of Life service will be held Saturday July 8, 2023, at 1:00pm at Debose Chapel United Methodist Church, 2570 NW 145th Street, Citra, FL 32113.
