Shooting in downtown Ocala leaves one person injured

One person was injured by gunfire on Saturday night during a shooting incident in downtown Ocala.

The shooting took place in the 200 block of S Magnolia Avenue in downtown at around 8:37 p.m., according to the Ocala Police Department.

Authorities say that one person sustained non-life-threatening injuries as a result of the shooting.

“The shooting appears to be an isolated incident and there is no threat to the general public,” reads a statement from the Ocala Police Department. No suspects are in custody, according to the department.

Police and ambulances were seen throughout downtown Ocala on Saturday in response to the shooting.

Multiple witnesses heard shots, with some reporting the smell of gunfire in the air.
