Two hospitalized after single-engine plane crashes in Ocala

Two people were hospitalized on Tuesday morning after their single-engine airplane crashed near the Ocala International Airport.

At around 10:52 a.m., several Ocala Fire Rescue units responded to Ocala International Airport (1770 SW 60th Avenue) in reference to an airplane crash. Upon arrival, crews observed a single-engine airplane with wing damage and a small fuel leak on the north end of the field, according to OFR.

Marion County Fire Rescue paramedics arrived on scene and assisted OFR crews with removing the two occupants from the airplane. Both occupants were then transported to a local hospital as trauma alerts.

OFR stated that crew members stopped the fuel leak.

The Ocala Police Department also responded to the airport, along with additional Ocala Fire Rescue and Marion County Fire Rescue units.

The Federal Aviation Administration, National Transportation Safety Board, and State Warning Point were notified of the incident
