The Ocala Drive-In will host a free movie night on Friday, October 20 to kick off this year’s Red Ribbon Week.

The event will take place at the Ocala Drive-In, which is located at 4850 S Pine Avenue in Ocala, and gates will open at 5:30 p.m. The following movies will be shown:

  • Screen 1 will feature “Hocus Pocus 2” and “Elemental.”
  • Screen 2 will feature “Haunted Mansion” and “The Little Mermaid (2023).”

In addition, the free event will include ice cream from the Ocala Police Department’s Polar Patrol, sno-cones, swag bags, bounce houses, exhibitor booths, games, giveaways, and a first responder vehicle expo.

No registration is required, though attendees are encouraged to arrive early to participate in all the pre-show activities.

Red Ribbon Week is Marion County’s yearly initiative in October to promote healthy lifestyles for children by encouraging them to avoid drugs and alcohol.

The week-long awareness campaign is sponsored by the Marion County Children’s Alliance and the Community Council Against Substance Abuse, in partnership with the Florida Department of Health in Marion County.

Marion County’s efforts are part of a national Red Ribbon campaign that involves more than 100,000 schools and organizations. The event is dedicated to DEA Agent Enrique Camarena, who was murdered in 1985 by drug traffickers in Mexico.
