Ocala man dies after being ejected from SUV in fiery crash

A 31-year-old man from Ocala was killed on Tuesday night when the SUV he was driving collided with two trees in Alachua County.

At around 11:45 p.m., the man was traveling eastbound on County Road 234, near the intersection of County Road 2028. When he approached the intersection in the SUV, he failed to slow down for the stop sign, according to the Florida Highway Patrol incident report.

FHP stated that the SUV proceeded to travel across County Road 2082 and onto the grass shoulder where it struck two large trees. After impact, the SUV became engulfed in flames.

According to the report, the driver and sole occupant of the SUV was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident, and he was ejected from the vehicle when it crashed into the trees. He sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene by Alachua County Fire Rescue personnel.

The driver’s name was not released by the Florida Highway Patrol.
