The City of Ocala kicked off its Tuscawilla Art Park Series over the weekend with a live chalk drawing competition featuring professional artists who were vying for a $500 cash prize.
On Saturday, January 27, the City of Ocala Cultural Arts Division hosted the first annual OTrak Chalk Walk from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Tuscawilla Art Park, which is located at 213 NE 5th Street in Ocala.
The theme of the event, “O, The Places We’ll Go,” was inspired by the linear park system known as Osceola Trak, which connects the Art Park and Tuscawilla Park located to the north of downtown with the Ocala Downtown Market located to the south.
During the day-long competition, attendees watched as the professional artists created their travel-themed artwork on the Art Park’s sidewalks.
Once completed, the chalk art was then judged by Lisa Irwin and Geraldo E. Rodriguez of the Lisa Irwin Legacy for Arts & Culture (LILAC) Foundation.
Below are the winners of this year’s OTrak Chalk Walk:
Best in Show ($500 prize)
Second Place ($250 prize)
People’s Choice Award ($250 prize)
In a social media post on Tuesday morning, the Ocala Cultural Arts Division shared additional photos (see below) of the chalk art that was created during the city’s inaugural OTrak Chalk Walk.
