City to host event highlighting African American businesses in Marion County

In celebration of Black History Month, the City of Ocala Recreation and Parks will host a new program, African American Businesses in Marion County, on Tuesday, February 6.

The event, which is free and open to the public, will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Mary Sue Rich Community Center at Reed Place located at 1821 NW 21st Avenue in Ocala. No registration is required.

According to the recreation and parks department, the program will reflect on the rich history of local African American businesses while highlighting their contributions to the growth of Ocala/Marion County.

Guest speakers during the event will include Monica Bryant (Town Talk Magazine), Mdumisi Khumalo and Tiffany Adams Khumalo (Natures’ Wellness Care LLC), and Howard Gunn (Ag-Grow Consultants).

In addition, the event will include a steel drum solo by Sean Thomas of SeanTMusic Global, as well as a special praise dance by Mitzi Berryan and Cher-re Berryan.

Light refreshments will be served to attendees.
