James D. Pinder
June 22, 1949 – February 20, 2024
James Duffey Pinder, age 74, of Reddick, Florida passed away on Tuesday, February 20, 2024. Jim was born in Miami, Florida on June 22, 1949, to the late H. Leroy and Virginia (Duffey) Pinder.
He worked as a telephone repairman until the early 70’s when he joined Miami Elevator Company, later known as Thyssenkrupp Elevator, as a helper working his way up to an Elevator Foreman. He took great pride in the installation, adjusting, and maintenance of the elevators in his care, as well as teaching the next generation the elevator trade. His work moved him to Ocala in the late 70’s as the high demand for his expertise was needed at local hospitals and the University of Florida.
Jim was a founding member of Christ the King Catholic Mission in Citra, Florida where he served as a member of the Men’s Club and over saw the care and maintenance of the church grounds and buildings. He was a former Boy Scout Leader and a 4th degree knight in the Knights of Columbus, serving as the treasurer for Council 16413. Jim enjoyed genealogy and researching, tracing his family patriarchal and matriarchal history and heritage back generations.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Leroy and Virginia and brothers, Thomas, and David Pinder.
Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Teresa J. (Raborn) Pinder; children, Rebecca Colleen Pinder, Patrick Henry Pinder (Sara) and Nichlas Duffey Pinder (Megan); sister, Helen Pratt, sister-in-law Lynne Pinder, two grandchildren, Clara and Andrew Pinder, and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Funeral Mass will be 10 am, Tuesday, March 19, 2024, at Christ the King Catholic Mission, 14045 N. US Highway 301, Citra, FL 32113 with interment to follow at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens, 5740 S. Pine Ave., Ocala, FL 34480.
