Florida Highway Patrol State Trooper Vehicle FHP 5

A Florida Highway Patrol trooper was involved in a shooting incident on Interstate 75 in Marion County on Sunday evening.

According to FHP, the incident took place on I-75 southbound, south of mile marker 374, on Sunday, July 14.

In a statement, FHP Lieutenant P.V. Riordan confirmed that a trooper was involved in the shooting. No further details were released regarding the shooting incident, the identity of any potential suspect(s), or if there were any injuries.

Motorists traveling on I-75 experienced delays on Sunday night due to the temporary closure of all southbound lanes near mile marker 374.

The Florida Department of Law Enforcement is currently conducting an investigation into the trooper-involved shooting.
