A sinkhole has opened up at an Ocala park, closing the facilities indefinitely until it can be repaired.

Jim Kirk Park is closed until further notice, according to a statement issued by the Ocala Recreation and Parks Department on Tuesday afternoon.

According to officials, the park, which is located at 2913 NE 9th Street, is closed due to “a sink hole.”

“Our team is currently evaluating the damage for a timeline to reopen,” reads the statement from the organization.
