Longtime owners of northwest Ocala pizzeria retire, sell business

The former owners of a pizzeria in northwest Ocala retired last week after over 40 years in the industry, selling the business to new owners.

Sanford “San” Felder and his wife, Jacqueline “Jacki”, have transferred the reins of their restaurant, San’s Pizzeria, to new owners. The restaurant made the announcement through social media on Saturday, August 3.

“It is with sadness and joy that Jacki and San have recently retired from the NW Blitchton Rd location in Ocala, Florida,” reads the statement.

San’s Pizzeria is located at 4953 NW Blitchton Road, within the Quail Meadow Commons Shopping Center.

After “40 years in the pizza industry,” the Felders said they wanted to begin a “new chapter” in their lives with their family.

“A special thank you to our daughter, Cara, and son-in law, Nick, for their dedication and unwavering help these past few years,” reads the statement. The couple says their staff has been “amazing” and their customer base in Ocala and surrounding communities has been “nothing but awesome.”

“Thank you for all the support and love,” reads the statement, before going on to endorse the new owners. “Please welcome the Patel family as they pick up the reins of San’s Pizzeria.”

On September 6, 2021, Ocala-News.com first reported that San’s Pizzeria had opened in northwest Ocala a week prior.

Originally based out of Palm Harbor, Florida, San’s Pizzeria closed up shop on its East Lake location in August 2020. At the time of its closure, owners the Felders told customers they were going into retirement.

“San became restless in his retirement and will be opening a new location in Ocala, Florida,” reads a post from the restaurant’s Facebook page in 2021. In May 2021, the couple announced plans to open a new location in Ocala.

San’s Pizzeria serves a wide variety of premium and specialty pizzas, including hot buffalo chicken, pesto, cheeseless, and Polynesian, among others.

In addition to pizza, the restaurant serves a large collection of classic Italian dishes, including strombolis, ziti, ravioli, calzones, and Penne alla Vodka, to name a few.

San’s Pizzeria is open Tuesday through Saturday, from a.m. to 9 p.m. For more information on the business, visit the San’s Pizzeria website
