Dozens more photos have been submitted by local residents illustrating the damage caused by Hurricane Helene in Ocala and Marion County, including downed trees on power lines, roadways, homes, and cars.

Earlier today, Ocala-News.com readers shared several photos showing the damage caused throughout Marion County by Hurricane Helene.

In the hours since we first published that story, local residents and emergency agencies have shared at least two dozen more photos of downed trees, broken utility poles, and crushed vehicles.

All of the debris was created by the high winds that accompanied Hurricane Helene. At its peak, the hurricane reached over 140 mph maximum sustained.

According to the National Weather Service, the Ocala International Airport recorded gusts as high as 40 mph.

Ocala-News.com reported earlier Friday that at least 40,000 customers were still without power throughout the area.

Currently, there are still around 35,000 residents still without power, according to the outage maps from multiple utility companies as of 11:30 a.m.

Utility crews have been working since late last night to restore power throughout Ocala and Marion County.
