A company that manufactures and develops pharmaceutical drugs announced a “mass layoff” of over 100 of its employees who work about 30 miles north of Marion County.
Resilience Government Services made the announcement in a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Filing made through the Florida Department of Commerce on Thursday, December 5.
“This letter is to advise the Florida Department of Commerce State Rapid Response that Resilience Government Services, Inc. plans to effectuate a ‘mass layoff’ under the Federal Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act,” reads the letter.
The business goes on to say that it will terminate approximately 105 employees at its worksite, which is located at 13200 NW Nano Court in Alachua.
The company anticipates that the terminations will be “permanent” and that they will commence on February 3, 2025.
“It is anticipated that all impacted employees will be notified on or about December 5, 2024 that their employment will terminate at least 60 days from that date,” reads the letter.
The company says that approximately 27 employees will remain employed for a limited time after the initial termination date, until approximately May 21, 2025, in order to assist with “certain tasks.”
All of the terminations should be effectuated by June 1, 2025, according to the filing. Despite the layoffs, the company says that it will not close the entire site.
According to its website, Resilience is a biomanufacturing contract development and manufacturing organization (CDMO) that improves “access to complex medicines, with end-to-end solutions for sale and scalable manufacturing.”
The layoffs come just a couple months after a marijuana cultivation and production facility in Palatka announced the termination of 113 employees. That facility announced the layoffs just weeks after its assets were bought by a California-based cannabis delivery company.
