A Central Florida family with plans to open at least two new car washes in Ocala has just completed the purchase of a site where another car wash chain had planned to build a new location.
K2 Ocala 2, LLC, purchased the 0.97-acre site at 1544 Silver Springs Boulevard in Ocala for $1,500,000 from ModWash, LLC, on January 30, according to a deed filed with the Marion County Clerk of Courts on February 6.
According to state corporate records, K2 is owned by Todd and Jackson Kirby, a family based in Winter Park, Florida.
The Kirby family plans to build a Zoom Express Car Wash at the site in east Ocala, as well as at a second site along Maricamp Road.
In addition to Ocala, the Kirbys are working on other locations in Orlando, Maitland, Sanford, Lake Nona, and Okeechobee.
The site along Silver Springs Boulevard was purchased by ModWash for $1,000,000 on July 26, 2023. Ocala-News.com first reported signs for the new car wash at the site that fall.
Those signs were removed late last year and replaced with signs for Zoom.
The new Zoom Car Wash will be less than a half of a mile from Bay Blast Car Wash, about three miles from the RaceWash on Maricamp Road, and less than four miles away from Caliber Car Wash on East Silver Springs Boulevard, which opened in 2021.
