Dozens of JOANN fabrics stores closed this week, with hundreds others, including the location in Ocala, scheduled to permanently close by the end of May.

On Monday, at least 100 JOANN stores permanently shut their doors, including multiple locations in Florida.

According to a statement from GA Group, which is managing the store closing sales in partnership with Tiger Group, all 790 JOANN locations will close by the end of May.

In March, sales on the fabric chain’s website (joann.com) were closed just weeks after it was announced that GA Group and Tiger Group would be acquiring and selling the company’s assets.

Although Joann Inc. originally planned to close 500 locations in an effort to maximize the value of the business, the sale to GA Group sealed the company’s fate.

As a result, over the past seven weeks, GA Group has been closing all of the 790 locations after offering “significant discounts” to liquidate all remaining assets.

As of April 29, all stores are reportedly selling merchandise at 40% to 70% off regular prices.

“All sales are final during this store closing event. The sale is expected to last for approximately 12 weeks, until the end of May, or until supplies last. All furniture, fixtures, and equipment are also available for purchase. The retailer’s intellectual property and leases will also be sold as part of this process,” reads a statement from GA group.

Earlier this month, the company issued several alerts to customers that its liquidation sales were “in-store only,” after several scam websites began claiming to be selling JOANN merchandise.

Joann’s sole location in Ocala is situated at 2405 SW 27th Avenue in the Shady Oaks Shopping Center.

Locations in Leesburg, The Villages, and Lakeland will also permanently close their doors by May’s end. Like Ocala, their official closure dates have not been released to the public.
