A 27-year-old motorcyclist was killed on Friday evening after a sedan turned in front of him at a Marion County intersection, marking the third fatal accident in the county in just over 24 hours.

The fatal accident took place near the intersection of NE County Road 315 and NE 225th Street in Fort McCoy on June 27, at around 6:10 p.m.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the motorcyclist, who was a man from Citra, was traveling near the intersection in question when a sedan being driven by a 43-year-old woman from Callaway, Virginia, made a left in front of the motorcycle.

As a result, the motorcycle collided with the sedan. The motorcyclist was pronounced deceased at the scene. It is unknown if he was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

The Callaway woman was treated on the scene with minor injuries. The FHP report indicates that the woman was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident.

The fatal accident took place around 14 hours after a 41-year-old man was killed along State Road 42 in Marion County, and just over 24 hours after another fatal accident in the county claimed the life of a 19-year-old motorcyclist.
