Ocala porch farmstand selling fresh, homemade goods

An Ocala family has set up shop on their front porch, selling jams, breads, cookies, and other homemade goods on the honor system.

Porch Farmstand opened for business along Teak Run in the Porter Shores neighborhood earlier this year.

Owner/operator Melissa Butterfield started the business with a refurbished armoire and eggs for sale. Over the past several months, Butterfield has steadily grown the infrastructure and the product offering of the business.

Porch Farmstand offers different flavors of coffee cake (maple, cinnamon glazed), tres leches, old fashioned peach cobbler, muffins (double chocolate, blueberry), energy bites, monkey bites, fudges, and dessert cups that also come in a variety of flavors, including key lime, and cookies and cream, among others.

The business also sells a variety of jams, relishes, candied jalapeños, and breads, which can be preordered.

Some of the bread flavors that have been offered in the past include white sandwich bread, artisan plain bread, jalapeño cheddar bread, and garlic cheddar, among others.

For payment, visitors may leave cash in an “honor box” on top of the egg refrigerator. The business also accepts CashApp and Venmo for payments.

UPDATE: Shortly after the publication of this story, Porch Farmstand announced that it would no longer sell eggs until obtaining a license.
