A new set of buildings nearing completion at the Marion Technical College will offer students hands-on experience with aircraft, aviation equipment, and diesel engines.
Located at 1014 SW 7th Road in Ocala, the college recently announced that the “state-of-the-art” buildings are almost ready to open their doors to students.
According to the college, the program will offer hands-on training in aviation mechanics with tools, technology, and real-world environments. The school shared several photos of the new buildings through social media recently, including a photo of multiple aircraft that will be worked on.
“From the skies to the highways, Marion Technical College is committed to preparing the next generation of skilled professionals,” reads a statement from the organization.
According to the college’s website, the program currently offers courses for aviation airframe mechanics, aviation powerplant mechanics, and diesel systems technicians. Information on the aviation programs is not yet available through the college’s website.
The 1,050-hour diesel systems technician 1 program trains students to become diesel mechanics/technicians. Students learn safety, engine repair, electrical systems, fuel injection, overhauls, and preventive maintenance. Graduates may work as truck, bus, heavy vehicle, or mobile equipment technicians, according to the college’s program guide.
