Ocala resident Jackie Graves made it through to the next stage of a brand new gameshow on FOX that pits 100 contestants against each other in everyday challenges for a $1 million prize.
Graves was one of seven dozen contestants who advanced to the next stage of 99 to Beat, a new gameshow that premiered on FOX on Sunday.
Although the first episode will re-air on Wednesday, September 24 as originally scheduled, the network made the decision to air a preview of the new show on Sunday after its slate of football programming.
During the premiere episode, hosts Ken Jeong and Erin Andrews regularly emphasized the show’s catchphrase: “Don’t finish last.”
To that end, Graves advanced through multiple games before she even flirted with a chance to exit the show in the final game of the night.
Every time an individual was eliminated on the show, $10,000 was added to the prize pool. That will continue until the entire prize has been doled out to one winner.
Among the games in which Graves participated were a scavenger hunt to find one of 100 leis scattered amidst 1,000 balloons, guessing the weight of various humans/animals/items, a race to melt a block of ice and blow a whistle encased inside, and a game that involved balancing noodles on a stick of spaghetti using only one’s mouth.

The final challenge of the first episode involved separating the remaining contestants into groups of 12. Those groups then competed in a water-filling challenge wherein teammates made assembly lines and transferred water from buckets strapped to their heads.
A mother of three and cancer survivor, Graves is a roller coaster and reality television fanatic, according to her social media profiles. With the win in the final challenge, she was able to advance one step closer to winning the ultimate prize.
During Sunday’s broadcast, several of the contestants were profiled along with other contestants with whom they have direct relationships (i.e., siblings, couples, fathers and sons, etc.).
The next new episode of 99 to Beat will air on FOX on October 1. The series is currently available to stream on Hulu or FOX.
99 to Beat was first broadcast in Belgium in Jaunary 2018. The American variation was produced by Initial. Several individuals were executives: Natalka Znak, Claire O’Donohoe, Katy Manley and Lee Smithurst executive producing. The series is based on a format originated by VRT and De Chinezen, and is distributed by Primitives.
