A 52-year-old equine veterinarian was arrested in Marion County after he was accused of having a sexual relationship with an underage girl who worked for him.

The suspect in this case, identified as Gregory Alan Ford, worked as an equine veterinarian and traveled throughout the United States, tending to horses at various farms. He was a friend of the victim’s family, and the victim began working for him at the age of 15, according to the Marion County Sheriff’s Office arrest report.

An MCSO corporal noted in the report that the victim had graduated from high school early and was pursuing a college degree in equine medicine, which led to her employment with Ford. Since the age of 15, the victim traveled with Ford across the U.S. while working as a veterinary assistant.

In early September of 2025, MCSO received information from a Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) agent regarding an incident of sexual abuse involving Ford and the victim, which allegedly occurred in May of 2025 at one of Ford’s residences located in the 15000 block of NW 112th Road in Morriston. This alleged incident was originally reported to a law enforcement agency in Alabama.

According to MCSO, the victim disclosed that she had been involved in a sexual relationship with Ford for approximately two years. This allegedly occurred while she traveled around the country with Ford, when she was between 15 and 17 years of age.

During an interview with MCSO investigators, the victim stated that she has first met Ford when she was “13 to 14 years old,” since her family owns a farm and several horses in Alabama. She stated that Ford would come over to her family’s home and check on those horses “approximately every two months,” according to the report.

The victim stated that she initially began helping Ford at local shows when he was in town. As she got older, she began traveling with him as a vet technician, and the “inappropriate contact” with Ford began when she was around 15 years old.

While speaking with investigators, the victim provided details about her sexual encounters with Ford while they were traveling together. She estimated that she had sex with Ford “approximately three to four times,” with the last sexual encounter occurring several weeks prior to her interview with MCSO, according to the report.

According to the victim’s statement, she also exchanged sexually explicit pictures with Ford when they were not together.

The MCSO investigation allegedly revealed that Ford had sent messages to the victim’s family. In those messages, he “admitted to the ongoing sexual abuse, expressed his love [and] desire to marry the child victim, and stated he would never regret the way they cared for each other,” according to the sheriff’s office.

A warrant was issued for Ford’s arrest, and he was taken into custody and booked into Marion County Jail on Wednesday, September 24. He is currently being held at the facility without bond, and he is being charged with sexual battery of a victim between 16 and 17 years of age.

A court date for Ford has not been scheduled yet, according to jail records.

Due to the nature of the allegations against Ford and the traveling nature of his profession, MCSO Major Crimes detectives and the FBI believe Ford may have additional victims across the United States. Anyone with information about other potential victims should contact Detective Rivera at 352-369-6749.
