Marion County Sheriff’s Office detectives are asking the public for information about a shooting in Silver Springs Shores that left one individual in critical condition.
Marion County Fire Rescue crews and MCSO deputies were called to the scene of a shooting near the intersection of Locust Pass Trail and Oak Lane at around 5:45 a.m. on Friday, November 14.
Upon arrival, law enforcement authorities located a man who was suffering from a gunshot wound. MCFR transported the man to a local hospital in critical condition.
At the time of the shooting, which occurred shortly before students arrived at their schools in the area, MCSO increased its law enforcement presence at nearby schools in Silver Springs Shores.
No additional details about the shooting were provided by MCSO.
