Kroger will end delivery services to all of Marion County and the rest of Florida next year after announcing on Tuesday that the company will close its sole distribution center in the state in the coming weeks.

On Tuesday, Leesburg-News.com reported Kroger will close its fulfillment center at 7925 American Way in Groveland sometime in January. The company is also closing two other fulfillment centers in Maryland and Wisconsin.

A statement issued to customers says that Kroger Delivery service will officially end in Florida on February 1, 2026. Customers may still receive delivery orders through January 31, 2026.

“We don’t make these decisions lightly, and we understand the impact this has on our customers and communities,” reads the statement.

Headquartered in Ohio, Kroger says it is making the moves to restructure and improve its eCommerce offering. As a result, it will begin using services like Instacart, DoorDash, and Uber Eats to deliver its products instead of its own drivers and trucks.

The company says Instacart will function as the company’s primary delivery fulfillment service on Kroger.com and the Kroger app. It will also partner with Uber Eats next year.

After news broke of the fulfillment center’s closure, several local residents bemoaned the possible loss of delivery services.

The fulfillment center, which is situated next to several other centers managed by other large companies including Amazon, is Kroger’s sole location in all of Florida.

The company does not operate a single retail storefront throughout the state, despite a portfolio of over 1,230 stores elsewhere across the United States.
