Walmart self checkout lanes
Self-checkout lanes at Walmart

To the Editor:

When is Walmart going to learn that ever since they decided to put in the Self-Service check-out lanes that a lot of people are going to try and beat the system?

I would think that some (?) people may have gotten away with a few items that weren’t scanned at the self-checkout registers, but the majority of people who have decided to not scan many items have not gotten away with it and are sitting in jail because of it.

The people who do try to get away with it are caught and prosecuted. Walmart created this problem on their own accord.

Think of amount of money it costs to pursue and prosecute these folks in the court systems today. It happens every day and at multiple locations.

Case in point, the Walmart located in Clermont, where every day you can read a news report about someone trying to get away without paying for the items and get caught doing so.

Some people are just dumb enough to think they can get away with it. People, they have cameras everywhere in their stores and can see every move you make, from the time you enter the store, to the time you leave. Walmart, you can fix this problem by eliminating the self-checkout registers and hiring more regular cashiers, thus hopefully eliminating maybe (?) 95% of people trying to walk out of your stores without paying for their stolen merchandise.
