To the Editor:
I don’t understand why the traffic lights have never been updated. Florida law says they need to be 20 feet from the intersection.
For example, the one on the corner of Emerald and Maricamp Road can’t even be seen if you pull up to the stop line. The light is right above you. So you have to stop further back to see the light, and then you aren’t triggering the sensors. Which is another problem; the light cycles.
Some of these light cycles are forever. That same light cycles every 3.5 minutes. For an insurrection, that’s forever.
There’s 35,000 cars that go down that road every day and the Florida Department of Transportation and city planners need to do something.
There was just a kid killed there because an impatient lady ran the red. C’mon Ocala, you’re losing us.
