Three Ocala residents were killed while riding their motorcycles in separate fatal accidents that all occurred within 18 hours of each other this weekend.
A 22-year-old woman, a 37-year-old woman, and a 36-year-old man, all from Ocala, were the three motorcyclists who lost their lives this weekend.
The first two fatal accidents occurred within an hour of each other on Saturday, March 21. The third fatality, which occurred on Sunday, March 22, at approximately 2:18 p.m., was confirmed by Florida Highway Patrol officials early this morning.
In the first accident, a 37-year-old woman was traveling northbound on U.S. Highway 19 in Citrus County when she attempted to pass a Jeep in front of her. As she was overtaking the vehicle, her motorcycle struck a trailer attached to the Jeep. The woman was ejected from the vehicle and struck by an SUV.
In the second accident, which took place at around 9:30 p.m. on Saturday night, a 22-year-old woman was killed after her motorcycle was rear-ended by a sedan on I-75 in Marion County. After the sedan rear-ended the motorcycle, the rider was thrown from her vehicle and landed in the center lane, where she was fatally struck by an SUV.
The third and final accident occurred near the intersection of SE 95th Street Road and SE 170th Avenue Road in Ocklawaha.
In that incident, a 36-year-old motorcyclist was driving westbound on SE 95th Street at around 2:18 p.m. on Sunday, March 22. At the same time, a sport utility vehicle being driven by a 68-year-old Leesburg man was traveling eastbound on the same roadway.
The SUV made a left turn to travel north on SE 170th Avenue Road. Upon making the turn, the vehicle entered the direct path of the motorcycle. As a result, the motorcycle collided with the right side of the SUV.
Both vehicles came to final rest within the intersection. The motorcyclist sustained fatal injuries and the Leesburg man and his passenger, an 87-year-old woman from Leesburg, were both uninjured in the accident.
Before this weekend, there were at least 34 accidents in Marion County this year that involved motorcycles. At least two of those incidents resulted in fatalities.
In 2025, approximately 22 individuals lost their lives while riding motorcycles in Marion County.
