The sole Hooters location in Ocala and in Marion County has permanently closed its doors.

The Hooters located at 2711 SW 27th Avenue in Ocala officially closed its doors for good after one last day in business on Sunday, April 19.

The restaurant hosted one last “Hooters and Cruisers” car show at its location before closing its doors last evening.

No details were given regarding the closure and an email to the company last week for comment was not responded to by the publication of this story.

In a statement shared with Panama City News Herald, which is owned by the USA Today Co., the company said the decision was made, in part, to “focus, revitalize, and strengthen the Original Hooters brand across America.”

The closure of yet another Hooters restaurant comes amidst a year of a change for the company.

Last year, Hooters closed at least four locations across the state of Florida. Shortly after the closures, Hooters opened a new location in The Villages.

In November, the company was reacquired by the original founders and a restructuring of the brand was put in motion.

According to a press release at the time, Original Hooters, along with their partners at Hoot Owl Restaurants LLC, own approximately 140 out of 198 domestic Hooters restaurants.
