Walmart has announced plans to remodel one of its Supercenters in Marion County as part of a massive statewide reinvestment project aimed at modernizing 58 stores across Florida this year.

The Dunnellon Walmart Supercenter, located at 11012 N. Williams Street, is the only Marion County location included in this phase of the 2026 renovation project.

Nationally, the retailer is planning updates at more than 650 Supercenters and Neighborhood Markets to modernize layouts, technology, and services.

According to a press release issued by Walmart, the planned renovations focus on integrating digital and in-store shopping through a store-based app that helps customers navigate aisles and book services at Auto Care Centers.

The transformed stores will feature updated pharmacies offering medications and clinical services, along with free pharmacy delivery for Walmart+ members. Additionally, residents will see redesigned Vision Centers offering increased privacy and expanded designer brands, while the general store layout will be upgraded with interactive displays and a wider selection of national brands, according to the company.

The announcement follows recent moves by Walmart to secure its long-term real estate footprint in Ocala and the surrounding area.

On April 13, the Wal-Mart Real Estate Business Trust purchased the Walmart Neighborhood Market at 7855 SW Highway 200 for $5,279,967. That 41,389-square-foot store had been leased by the retailer since it was built in 2016.

The acquisition of the southwest Ocala property mirrors a move made last July when Walmart purchased six of its previously leased stores, including the Neighborhood Market on Maricamp Road. While the company often leases smaller properties to free up assets, it typically maintains direct ownership of its larger Supercenter properties, such as the site in Dunnellon.

In addition to the local remodel, Walmart is preparing to open several new locations this year, including two in Lady Lake and The Villages.
