Students and teachers at a Marion County high school have been held after the closing bell on Tuesday afternoon as law enforcement authorities investigate an unspecified threat.

North Marion High School, which is located at 151 W Hwy 329 in Citra, has been under a code yellow lockdown since approximately 1:57 p.m. on Tuesday, April 28.

“At this time, North Marion High School is on Code Yellow and in lockdown due to a reported threat. We have an increased law enforcement presence on the scene as deputies investigate the threat,” reads a statement from MCSO.

No additional details about the incident have been released. As of 2:25 p.m., staff and students were still being kept inside classrooms.

As MCSO updates the public, we will publish additional information about this incident.

The threat at NMHS comes less than 24 hours after Forest High School in Ocala was also put on lockdown by MCSO for a similar incident. That threat was determined to be a possible swatting call.
