A woman has filed a lawsuit against a local hospital group, saying that she slipped and fell on a hazardous substance while she was walking near the indoor cafeteria at HCA Florida West Marion Hospital in Ocala.

Brenda Aldana Mora filed the complaint against Marion Community Hospital in the Fifth Judicial Circuit Court of Marion County on April 20.

According to the complaint, the alleged incident took place on October 25, 2024, at the hospital property located at 4600 SW 46th Ct in Ocala.

Mora claims that she was walking as a lawful guest when she slipped on a “slippery substance” while exiting the cafeteria.

The lawsuit alleges that the hospital failed to properly inspect the property and allowed a hazardous condition to remain on the premises for an unreasonable length of time.

Mora claims the hospital failed to warn her of the danger despite having sufficient time to remedy the situation through reasonable care or routine inspection.

As a direct and proximate result of the fall, Mora states that she suffered serious bodily injuries, permanent and significant scarring, and mental anguish. Additionally, the suit claims she suffered a loss of earnings and a loss of the capacity for the enjoyment of life.

Mora is seeking damages in excess of $50,000, exclusive of interest and costs, and has requested a trial by jury.
