Dr. Allison Campbell has made history as the first Marion County School Board member to be sworn in as president of the Florida School Boards Association.

Marion County School Board Member Dr. Allison Campbell has officially been sworn in as the president of the Florida School Boards Association, marking a historic milestone for the school district. Campbell is the first school board member from Marion County to ever lead the statewide organization.

First elected to the Marion County School Board representing District 1 in November 2020, Campbell secured her re-election in August 2024. Her current board term runs through 2028.

Within Marion County, District 1 encompasses several local schools, including Eighth Street Elementary, Forest High, Greenway Elementary, Lake Weir High, Madison Street Academy, Marion Technical Institute, Osceola Middle, Shady Hill Elementary, South Ocala Elementary, and Wyomina Park Elementary.

An Ocala resident for nearly 25 years, Campbell has a diverse professional background spanning corporate public relations, academia, and the non-profit sector. She previously worked as the director of strategic communications at the Community Foundation for Ocala/Marion County and co-owns the A&A Campbell Group alongside her husband, Andy.

Campbell holds an Accreditation in Public Relations and a Certified Public Relations Counselor designation through the Florida Public Relations Association. She previously served as the president of the local Ocala FPRA chapter and was a member of the state FPRA Board of Directors. Her other local community involvements include roles with the Public Education Foundation of Marion County and the Non-Profit Business Council.

In the academic world, Campbell has consistently pursued higher education and holds a Doctor in Strategic Communication degree from Regent University. She also earned a master’s degree in political communication from Regent University and a bachelor’s degree in telecommunications from Lee University. Sharing her expertise with local students, she serves as an adjunct professor at both the College of Central Florida and the Ocala campus of Southeastern University.

Campbell and her husband are the parents of three sons, all of whom are currently students enrolled within the Marion County Public Schools system.

In her new role leading the Florida School Boards Association, Campbell will represent school board members across the entire state of Florida while continuing her regular local duties in Marion County.
