Stella’s Modern Pantry has officially cleared out and shut the doors of its long-standing downtown Ocala location ahead of a move to a new spot, bringing a definitive end to its 18-year run in the heart of the city.

The cafe, which operated at 20 SW Broadway Street, wrapped up services after its building lease came to an end last week.

A photograph from the emptied storefront shows a completely bare interior, with all tables, seating, bakery displays, and artisanal goods completely removed from the space.

Following the final move, the company issued a statement reflecting on its nearly two-decade tenure downtown.

“And here is where the story ended! Thanks to the countless customers, friends, and family that have continuously supported us. We are incredibly blessed and we never forget that. Stay tuned for the start of the New Stella’s coming soon,” reads the statement from the company.

While the downtown chapter has concluded, co-owners Staci Atsides and Albert Barrett, along with their staff, are already preparing for the business’s next iteration.

Stella’s Modern Pantry will be relocating to the Golden Hills Center, situated at 6998 N. U.S. Highway 27.

The closure marks the latest high-profile departure from the downtown Ocala business scene, which recently saw the abrupt shuttering of La Cuisine, a French restaurant that ended its own 17-year run on SW 1st Avenue.

In previous years, other prominent downtown staples, including Molly Maguire’s, Pi on Broadway, The Keep, and the Shannon Roth Collection, also closed their storefronts.

At the Golden Hills Center, the new Stella’s concept will join a tenant lineup that currently includes Darrell’s Diner, Horse and Hounds, Remington’s Prime, and the Juniper General Store.
