Shannon Roth Collection has permanently closed its business in downtown Ocala after over a decade in the space and over 30 years in business in the city.
On Sunday, business owner Shannon Roth shared a brief parting message and photos of the shuttered store, which is located at 22 S Magnolia Avenue in downtown Ocala.
“It’s a wrap! Thank you to everyone who made the last 30+ years such an amazing journey,” reads a statement from Roth posted to the company’s social media pages.
After announcing the closure last month, the business had been selling items at a heavily discounted rate in anticipation of its closing on Sunday, July 14.
“After over three decades as a fixture in downtown Ocala, Shannon Roth Collection is closing its iconic blue doors,” reads a post from the company’s social media channels in June. “As she begins her next chapter, Shannon plans to focus on design projects and styling, embracing new creative endeavors beyond the confines of a physical store.”
Located in between O’Malley’s Alley and the recently opened 18 South, Shannon Roth Collection and Olivia & Co. Kids occupied the Dixie Theater building, which was renovated in 2006.
The business billed itself as Ocala’s “original lifestyle store.” It shared its space with Olivia & Co, a premier baby boutique.
With its closure, Shannon Roth Collection becomes part of the ever-changing landscape of downtown Ocala, which has been in a constant state of change for years.
Despite losing businesses like Molly Maguire’s, The Corkscrew, The Keep Downtown, and Havana Cuban Cuisine 352 over the past year, several other establishments have celebrated grand openings, or are in the midst of working on new projects, in downtown Ocala:
- The Marion Hotel is undergoing a complete renovation to become a new, luxury hotel.
- The Forge, a multi-restaurant concept, is currently under construction at the former WMOP Radio building.
- Brick City Lofts and Shops are currently under construction along the 400 block of SE 1st Avenue.
- Lamplighter Legacy Apartments opened this past March.
- Watula South Townhomes have wrapped construction and are now offering showings.
- Late last year, Symmetry Coffee moved into a new space formerly occupied by Katya Vineyards, which moved a few doors down.
- Mellow Mushroom celebrated its long-anticipated opening in downtown late last year.
- District Bar and Kitchen opened its new two-story restaurant last fall.
