New extended-stay hotel breaks ground in Silver Springs

Construction is officially underway on a new extended-stay hotel that will be situated next to Silver Springs State Park.

SSC Construction Management has officially broken ground on a new Home2 Suites by Hilton at 5495 N.E. 25th Street, near the intersection of East Silver Springs Boulevard and Baseline Road (NE 58th Avenue).

The groundbreaking marks the transition into the construction phase for the project, which was originally reviewed as a major site plan by the Marion County Development Review Committee under Headsprings, LLC in October 2025.

The new hotel is designed to cater to both business and leisure travelers seeking extended-stay options. The finalized building specifications outline a five-story, 72,065-square-foot facility featuring 105 guest rooms.

According to SSC, each suite will come equipped with its own kitchenette, and guests will have access to a complimentary daily breakfast alongside the on-site Home2 MKT pantry market.

Outdoor recreation amenities will include a large, zero-entry swimming pool anchoring a grilling patio and fire pit, as well as a dedicated pet play area and on-site bike racks.

The hotel is the latest venture by HDG Legacy, a prominent local development company responsible for a substantial share of Marion County’s modern hospitality market. The new Home2 Suites is being constructed on a parcel directly south of the Holiday Inn Express & Suites Silver Springs-Ocala, another hotel currently sitting under HDG Legacy’s extensive portfolio.

Beyond its growing presence in Silver Springs, HDG Legacy is actively developing the new AC Hotel by Marriott in downtown Ocala. The company’s other local properties include a Howard Johnson by Wyndham and a recently opened Staybridge Suites in northwest Ocala, as well as a TownePlace Suites by Marriott and a Best Western operating in southwest Ocala.

Once completed, the Home2 Suites will join nearby lodging options that include the Silver River Inn, Days Inn, Spring Side Motel, Sun Plaza Motel, Rodeway Inn, and Extended Stay America, among others.
