The City Gallery at Ocala City Hall highlights recently completed and ongoing projects across the area.
“A showcase of city related projects and initiatives that will advance the quality of place for the citizens of Ocala,” reads a statement on the walls of the gallery.
Among the projects are the Mary Sue Rich Community Center, the Martin Luther King Jr. First Responders Campus, and the Ocala Wetland Recharge Park.
The MLK Jr. First Responders Campus is located at 515 SW Martin Luther King Jr Avenue in west Ocala and offers both a community center and basketball courts to visitors.
The Mary Sue Rich Community Center is planned for 1969 NW 17th Place, and will include indoor and outdoor recreation and banquet/event spaces, as well as thousands of square feet of space devoted to educational, library, and civic information needs.
Perhaps one of the newest crown jewels of Marion County, the Ocala Wetland Recharge Park recently won a national award. The park features such a large variety of bird species that it attracts birdwatchers from all around the world.
The gallery includes the newest food addition to the Ocala International Airport, Elevation 89. The restaurant’s name refers to the elevation above sea level at which the airport sits. Crews make progress on the new Elevation 89. According to city records, the restaurant has a projected opening date of October 21, 2021.
